CAROL ANN WOOD
Carol Ann Wood, aka Pinky to her Chelsea friends because of her love for
pink megastore merchandise, is a creative writer and performance poet.
She has suffered from PCSS – Passionate Chelsea Supporter Syndrome – since
the age of nine, and has been a season-ticket holder since 1997. Carol
struggles to keep up with an ever-increasing list of match day superstitions,
which she tries, and fails, to ditch every August. These include drying
both hands simultaneously under two dryers in the ladies loos of the Matthew
Harding Lower and – despite the 25ºC heat – wearing her parka for the penalty
shoot-out in the Champions’ League final in Munich.
Carol has two adult children, lives in Cambridge and is married to the long-suffering
Mr Non-Footy, who once thought her celery was a half-time snack. Her
hobbies include scaring the wits out of new young players, and counting
the hairs on goalkeepers legs during dull games.
